Embracing the Gift of Community

Yoga is an individual practice. It is an exploration of your strengths and your limitations; it is a practice of remaining grounded in the midst of change and upheaval; it is a focus on the present moment and releasing expectations of a desired outcome. Our inward focus on our body, our thoughts, and our feelings allows us to bring our full selves to the external landscape. But yoga is not a solitary endeavor. It is full awareness of and intentional interaction between our inner and outer worlds. For two years, we learned how to shift our physical asana away from a community practice to our own private spaces. We took baby steps to come back together in person - first outdoors at the Lake Harriet Rose Garden and since last fall, indoors at the Center for Performing Arts. This space was recently profiled in the Southwest Connector. Check out the article at the link. Thanks to the vision of Jackie Hayes and the generosity of many, we are able to be a part of this magnificent studio, rehearsal, office and housing space for artists and teachers.
We are so lucky to have a sangha - the Sanskrit word for community - to inspire and support one another as we practice together in-person once again.
